Upgrading my laptop - Sony Vaio SZ series

More than a year ago, I've visited my friend who bought a new laptop and sold me her old laptop at a good price.
Originally, I wouldn't go for a Sony, but feel of superior material Carbon Display Cabinet I couldn't resist.

Below is a basic laptop upgrade procedure which I must do when I buy any second hand computer or laptop.
If you want your second hand laptop to serve you well for years check below steps:
  • Replaced 160GB original Seagate HDD with newer Seagate 500GB.
  • Installed Windows 7 Ultimate - which wasn't easy as some drivers gave me lots of problem so I decided to choose 32 bit version as there is no support for some drivers on 64 bit.Originally this laptop comes with Vista and I see most people decide to 'downgrade' to XP.
  • Replaced problematic 1GB memory with 2GB Kingston module.
  • Dismantle fan for cleaning and replaced CPU paste.
